Don’t Guess! Diagnose. Corbett Lunsford rocks it!

My buddy Corbett Lunsford really nailed it. He makes the point that 40 years into ‘weatherization’ programs, now known as Home Performance, homeowners are STILL guessing about what the root cause of their problems are. They still call one trade and expect them to fix it – the roofer, insulation guy, window guy, or AC tech.

Despite all the building science we have today, we’re still trying to self diagnose:

“Just like at the doctor, you wouldn’t walk in and say: I have a stomachace, I’d like you to take my appendix out, please.”

“You shouldn’t be able to self prescribe – your house is exactly like your body.” Tests need to be run and questions need to be asked.

So why don’t homeowners call Home Performance professionals? First off, they have no clue what Home Performance is, but second, and more importantly, they think all we can do is save them energy. That’s a shame, because we can do SOOOOO much more:
